Linking tasks is hugely beneficial to ensure everything in a project gets done in the right order. However, some restrictions need to be in place to ensure that nothing breaks.
When linking a task's start or due date, you get two options:
- [x days/immediately] after [another step]
- [x days/immediately] before [another step]
When choosing after, you'll have the option of choosing any step that appears above the task in your project (when using the default sort order).
When choosing before, you'll have the option of choosing anything that's fixed in time that appears below the task in your project (when using the default sort order) – this includes events and pinned tasks.
This is to avoid the situation where you can create circular links such as:
Package product for 1h [start 2 days before "Mail product"]
Mail product for 1h [start 1 day after "Package product"]
If the tasks refer to each other, TimeHero doesn't have a concrete date to use for a start date.
