Looking to get started quickly with TimeHero, and have a list of tasks you're looking to import? Here's how:

First open our template via Google Sheets:

Note that the header (Row 1) names must match this template.

You can either open the CSV file in Google Sheets, or download it and open with with Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet software.

Formatting Your Tasks

Name:

Is the name of the task you want to complete (eg. Write Report).

Duration (Optional)

The time it will take to complete.

TimeHero will detect durations formatted as:

  • HH:MM:SS e.g. 01:30:00, note that seconds should always be 00.

  • 1h 20m

  • 90m

  • 2.5h

If no duration is provided for a row, that task will default to 15 minutes.

Start (optional) and Due (optional)

Start is the earliest date TimeHero can schedule the task. Due is the due date – TimeHero will attempt to ensure the task is completed by this date.

TimeHero will detect dates formatted as:

  • mm/dd/yyyy, e.g. 09/15/2018

  • September 15, 2018

  • Most other common date formats

If no start date is provided, the task will schedule any time from today onwards.

If no due date is provided, the task will schedule at any time. Add a due date to help TimeHero prioritize which tasks to schedule!

Assignee (optional):

The username of the individual who is responsible for completing the task, (@name, e.g. @steve).

TimeHero will attempt to match this with members of your team.

If no assignee is provided, the task will be assigned to you.

Upload your CSV to TimeHero

There are two ways to import your tasks into TimeHero: adding tasks to an existing project or creating a new project from a CSV.

Before uploading, make sure you export your spreadsheet to CSV format. In Google Sheets this is via File > Download as > Comma-separated values (.csv, current sheet).

Add tasks to an existing project

Head to Projects in TimeHero, and find the project you want to add tasks to.

Tip: You can quickly search for projects by pressing CMD + K (Ctrl + K on Windows).

Find the project you wish to add the task to and click on the project to open it. Once the project is open, click on the NEW button located in the top righthand corner of the screen and click on 'Bulk add tasks' or alternatively you can hold Shift and press T.

Once you do that you will be brought to an Add/import tasks window and from there click UPLOAD CSV or drag and drop onto this window.

TimeHero will automatically parse your tasks and bring them into the Bulk add window.

Then click ADD

Now your CSV tasks will be uploaded into TimeHero under the selected project.

Create a new project from a CSV

To create a new project from a CSV, first open the new project dialog by clicking the NEW button, then choosing Project, or alternatively by pressing P on your keyboard.

From there, go to the ADD/IMPORT TASKS tab, then upload your CSV.

Name your project, click CREATE, and a new project will be created from your CSV!
